In Kalasin, as well as in other provinces of Isaan, many dinosaur fossils have been excavated, with Phu Kum Khao (fig.) being the largest dinosaur site in Thailand.

In the latter alone, more than 700 fossilized bones were found and in the nearby Phu Faek Forest Park, several large dinosaur footprints were discovered.
