The three-door paifang or entrance gate of Den Ben Duoc, a Memorial Temple in Phy My Hung village near Cu Chi (fig.), has the designs of a village gate. It is located in a lush garden, with the main hall being at the back of a large courtyard.

The temple is a war memorial to commemorate the people and soldiers that fought in the region and those who were killed in action during the wars to expel the French colonizers and the American occupation.

The complex, by some referred to as the Peace Pagoda, has a 39 meter high tower with 9 floors, i.e. an odd number of stories, to correspond with the yang principle of the yin-yang concept, i.e. the bright aspect. In addition, the tower is said to symbolize the rise up to the pinnacle of future fame. Adjacent to the tower is the Inscription House, a square edifice with in at its center a 3 meter tall marble tablet, said to weigh 3.07 tons.

It was brought here from the Marble Mountains (fig.) and is inscribed with a poem by Vien Phuong, that is entitled ‘Eternally Remember’.
