A
Malayan
Peacock-pheasant in Singapore's Jurong Bird Park. This
specific one is an adult male. Males are short-tailed and measure about
fifty centimeters. Its plumage is mainly pale brown with small black spots
and bands.
There
are
also
iridescent
greenish-blue ocelli
with
a
buff
edge.
Since
it
has
a
loose,
pointed
and
upturned,
dark
blue-green
crest
on
the
forehead,
it is
also
known
as
Crested
Peacock-pheasant.
