Background composed of
the portrait of Robert Koch, who in 1882 discovered the TB
Bacillus which causes tuberculosis, and which appears six
times, each with an overlay in a different colour, varying
from green to blue. In the foreground is a red Patriarchal
Cross, also known as a Lorraine Cross, i.e. a Latin Cross
with an additional −yet shorter− vertical bar, called
titulus (piece of wood on a cross which displayed an
inscription) and situated above the single vertical bar of a
Latin Cross, which since 1902 is the logo of the Lung
Association, symbolizing the crusade against tuberculosis. |
