  Black Dragon Pool

China

The Black Dragon Pool in Jade Spring Park is a still water at the foot of Elephant Hill near Lijiang (fig.) in Yunnan Province, southern China. It was built in 1737 AD during the Qing Dynasty.

With Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as a backdrop, the scenic park with its Moon-Embracing Pavilion, Jade Belt Bridge, Dragon God Temple, and Five-Phoenix Tower, offers some spectacular views. The Jade Belt Bridge is a type of Moon Bridge (fig.) with multiple semicircles of which the reflection in the water underneath can form a perfect full circle (fig.), resembling a full moon (fig.).
