  Banteng

 

Thailand

The Banteng is a species of wild bovine animal found in Southeast Asia, with the subspecies Burma Banteng being the one that is found in mainland Southeast Asia, including in Thailand, where it is called hua daeng.

 

Both males and females are usually orangey-brown to buff in colour, though some bulls are darker, varying from chocolate brown to almost black.

All have whitish buttocks and whitish lower legs, while darker Banteng bulls strongly resemble the more fiercely looking Gaurs (fig.).
