  Asian Openbills

The upper and lower jaw of the Asian Openbill do not completely meet, except at the tip, thus leaving a gap, which gave rise to this bird's name.

 

They are wading birds and can be found in paddy fields and marshes, where they mainly feed on molluscs, frogs and large insects. See also List of Thai Animal Names.
