Wat Chaleum Phrakiat Phrachomklao Rachanuson, also transliterated Wat Chaloem
Phra Kiat Phrachomklao Rachanusorn (วัดเฉลิมพระเกียรติพระจอมเกล้าราชานุสรณ์) is
the Thai name of a stunning hilltop temple in the northern Thai province of
Lampang, and which was originally named Wat Phraphuttabaht Poo Pha Daeng (วัดพระพุทธบาทปู่ผาแดง).
The most impressive part of this temple is the bare rocky mountain on which it
is located and which is dotted with small pagodas called chedis, that are mostly
white in colour, and which gives the location the epithet Temple of the Floating
Pagodas. A climb to its summit offers stunning views of the area. On our visit
we also spotted swallows, a large millipede, several butterflies, caterpillars,
and some colourful grasshoppers.
