  Temple of Heaven

The main pagoda of Tian Tan, i.e. the Hall of Prayer for a Good Harvest at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, China. It is the place used by the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for heaven worship, i.e. annual ceremonies of prayer for a good harvest.

 

It consists of a triple-gabled circular building, 38 meters tall and 36 meters in diameter, built on a three-level marble stone base. This building is depicted on the Panda Gold Coins issued annually by the People's Bank of China since 1982 (fig.).
