HISTORY & MONARCHY

  Terracotta Warriors (archer)

China

The Terracotta Warriors allegedly represent exact copies of the then soldiers and servants of emperor Qin Shi Huang Ti. Beside warriors, such as archers, cavalrymen and infantrymen, the collection also includes horses, chariots and charioteers, as well as officials, acrobats, strongmen and musicians.

Each statue is said to be unique, varying in aspect, height, uniform and hairstyle, in accordance with the model's function, rank and military unit. The sculpture in these photos represents an archer. His hairstyle is adapted to his weapon, with a single topknot to the left, so that it won't hinder him when he shoots arrows from his right shoulder.
