  RTAF aviation training at Mourmelon-le-Grand

Scale model of Mourmelon-le-Grand, a military airfield in northern France, where two of the three Founding Fathers of the Royal Thai Air Force in 1912 received their initial aviation training.

 

Here, Capt. Luang Ahwut Sikhikorn (fig.) and Lt. Thip Ketuthat (fig.) learned to fly in a French-made Nieuport 11 trainer monoplane (fig.), whereas Maj. Luang Sakdi Sanyawut (fig.) was trained at Villacoublay, a military air base near Paris (fig.).
