  Dia Tang

Dia Tang is the Vietnamese name for Ti Tsang, i.e. the Chinese bodhisattva of hell beings, whose role is similar to that of Phra Malai in Thailand and to that of Ksitigarbha in India. Here he is seated on his throne sheltered by Nine Dragons, referring to his everlasting power.

 

He is depicted holding a beggar's staff known as khakkhara (fig.) and in the photo above, also wearing a monk's hat called dbu rgyan (fig.).
